《屋顶上的小提琴手》是一部美国音乐家庭类电影，由诺曼·杰威森导演，诺尔马·克兰主演。于1971年11月3日上映。影片讲述了沙皇专制时期俄国的一个村子中，农夫特维与妻子女儿住在乌克兰族的犹太人居住区里，大女儿爱上了贫穷的裁缝默特，二女儿夏娃爱上了家庭教师菲得卡，特维起初都不同意。而最终，特维放弃了自己所遵从的传统哲学，原谅了女儿的出格，开始全新的生活的故事。

改编自百老汇著名歌舞剧，以20世纪初期的乌克兰乡下为背景，描写乐天安命的犹太裔农夫特维跟妻子和三个女儿之间的故事。三个女儿个性各有不同，而且都有了自己的意中人，但特维对这三段姻缘都不满意。特伊一心想把大女儿特拉嫁给有钱的屠夫拉查．沃夫，然而，事与愿违，特拉却爱上了穷裁缝默特．卡姆佐，此时的特伊不得不为女儿另做打算。

特伊认为自己要比那些整天骑在他头上的非犹太人大宽容得多，可最终还是不能接受另一个女儿夏娃决定和非犹太人菲得卡结婚的想法。当他和邻居被沙皇的手下从居住地强行赶走后，一向循规蹈矩的特伊这才意识到必须改变过去的处世哲学，重新开始生活。

就在这一场父女关系拉锯战之中，他们居住的犹太人社区遭遇专制沙皇和哈萨克人的逼害，一场集体大屠杀的悲剧正东势待发。特维只好接受现实，陆续把三个女儿嫁出去。

这部电影曾获四十四届奥斯卡奖8项提名，最终获得最佳摄影、最佳音响和最佳原着音乐3项大奖，其同名舞台剧在百老汇连演三千余场，是<音乐之声>演出场次的两倍。影片以二十世纪初的乌克兰乡村为背景，讲述犹太裔农夫特维一家的故事。特维的三个女儿都到了谈婚论嫁的年龄，在选择夫婿的问题上，特维和她们发生了一系列的冲突，在冲突发展过程中，适逢沙皇驱逐犹太人的事件发生，最终他们被迫离开了长年居住的犹太人村庄。

影片并没有用沉重的笔墨来描绘犹太民族的悲剧命运，相反，特维那种打骨子里透出来的幽默感时常让观众会心一笑。驾驭这种“笑中带泪”的风格是非常需要艺术功力的，从这个角度上讲，《屋顶上的小提琴手》片与贝托贝里尼的<美丽人生>有异曲同工之妙。

最最完美的歌舞片！小提琴手在屋顶上演奏，在晃晃悠悠中把握住传统与变革间的微妙平衡，在不落地的漂泊中保持孩童般的快乐；无论漂泊到何方，那琴上流出的音乐却永远向着爱，向着上帝！

评论二：

精彩的歌舞电影，虽然拍摄的年代久远，但表现出来的主题没有过时，传统和革命，年轻人的爱情和父母的期盼，一串的矛盾都通过歌舞的形式唱出来，跳出来。屋顶上的小提琴手，在电影里其实并不是一个影响剧情的人物，只是主角内心情感和心情的反应。主角心情好，拉出来的就是欢快的颤音，心情不好则是低沉的长弓～

评论三：

不知道它符不符合海报上的评论：“至今拍摄出的最震撼的音乐片”，反正个人认为此片在内涵方面胜于较其更为著名的<音乐之声>。

只是音乐片由于观众听力所限（尤其对我们这些“外国观众”）不能很好的得到欣赏和传播。

即便如此，本片还是能让你领略音乐那抚慰人心的力量，见识音乐如何化悲为喜，将一群“草民”的生活拍得如此令人向往……）
