湖南宾馆始建于1959年，1962年正式营业，是湖南省历史最早、知名度和美誉度很高的宾馆。建馆至今，一直是省委、省政府接待客人的主要单位,曾接待过党和国家三代领导人和多位外国元首及政要。

宾馆毗邻湖南烈士公园，院内鸟语花香、环境幽雅，属于典型的“绿色宾馆”；距火车站2公里，距黄花机场26公里，有多路公交汽车经过，交通十分便利。

宾馆现有客房三栋，分别为一号楼、二号楼、三号楼，其中一号楼为苏式建筑，被长沙市政府列为“近现代保护建筑”。

有高、中档客房427间，床位778个，客房空间高、面积大、居住舒适；有大小会议室35个，可承接各种大小不同、规格不一的会议，其中“湖宾会议中心”，在省内中属于面积最大、装饰最豪华的会议厅，可同时容纳800人开会。有格调高雅、装饰豪华气派的餐厅18个，可举办各种不同类型、档次的宴会和酒会，可同时容纳1500人就餐。另有商场购物、美容美发、物品寄存、桑拿按摩、酒吧咖啡、银行存兑、邮电传真、打字文印、宽带上网等配套服务项目。

宾馆因其雄厚的接待实力，经公开招标，分别被湖南省财政厅定为“省直单位一、二、三类会议定点接待单位”，被长沙市政府采购办定为“长沙市会议接待定点单位”。

The Hunan hotel was built in 1959. It has accommodated many State and Party leaders at all levels in the past 40 years. It is a reception center, a meeting center and the Government Guest House of Hunan Province.
